Workshop on Opportunity Matching
This half-day workshop will bring together the industrial process control community and academic researchers to identify high-impact opportunities, enabling solutions, and potential collaborations for next-level practicable applications in process control.
Workshop Motivation
This workshop will address the question: “What improvements in process control would permit next-level practicable applications?”
The industrial process control community was invited by the AACC to create a wish list of innovations desired to improve process control. Researchers are now invited to submit a one-page description of how they might provide enabling solutions for these innovations. A committee of Subject Matter Experts will select the top ten respondents to present their solutions at this workshop. The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion, with panelists drawn from industry, focusing on overall needs and solutions from the community.
The goal is to match industrially motivated challenges with academic ideas, methods, and solution pathways that can support practical progress in process control.

Expected Outcomes
From Opportunity Matching to Collaboration
The workshop is expected to stimulate follow-up collaborative projects between researchers and industry. Suitable dissemination of the workshop outcome is planned through newsletter articles and publication in periodicals. Based on community response, the initiative may be expanded to other engineering sectors beyond process control.
